Bienvenidas y bienvenidos de nuevo a nuestra serie “Conozca a los candidatos”, en la que hacemos una pregunta cada semana a cada aspirante a supervisor(a) en las elecciones de noviembre de 2024. Se pide a los candidatos que respondan a preguntas sobre política e ideologías en no más de 100 palabras.
Las respuestas se publican individualmente cada semana, y también archivamos la serie semanal aquí.

Julian Bermudez
- Ocupación: Trabaja y dirige su empresa familiar, Electrodomésticos Rancho Grande
- Edad: 27 años
- Residencia: Nació en San Francisco en 1996, se vivió ahí de forma intermitente en el Distrito 9 hasta que se fue a la universidad en 2015, luego al ejército en 2019 y ahora ha regresado a la Misión.
- Medio de transporte: Transporte público y comparte coche
- Estudios: City College de San Francisco, Universidad Estatal de Chico.
- Idiomas: Inglés y español
Siempre he manifestado que votaré por candidatos locales. Mi segunda opción es Roberto Hernández y mi tercera, Jaime Gutiérrez. Durante la campaña, realicé varios cambios en mi voto, principalmente basándome en el carácter y las acciones de los candidatos. ¿Están aquí para ganar o para apoyar a nuestras comunidades? Al igual que en el póker, puedes revelar tus cartas a través de tu actitud y el nivel de tu apuesta. Los candidatos que nos han presentado no están aquí para ayudar a nuestras comunidades. - Residencia: Inquilino, en la dirección actual durante nueve años, reubicado al Distrito 9 en abril de 2022.

- Estudios: Licenciado en Educación y maestro en Educación Especial por la Universidad de Clemson

Siempre voto por mi primero para que mi madre no se revuelque en su tumba.
Sin embargo, siempre respaldo a alguien más primero, en este caso, a Jackie Fielder.
Mi segundo respaldo es para Jaime Gutiérrez porque es genuino, pero en mi boleta electoral pondré a Stephen Torres, quien se destacó más para mí en los Foros de las últimas dos noches.
Todos son mucho más inteligentes de lo que pensé, pero a quien más subestimé fue a Torres.
Así que, en realidad, debería estar votando por Stephen Torres primero, pero ya le di ese lugar a Jackie Fielder hace tiempo porque me da miedo Trevor Chandler.
Espero que eso aclare cualquier confusión.

Cuando obtuve el respaldo número 1 del Partido Demócrata de San Francisco, pedí a los miembros que votaran por Roberto Hernández como su opción número 2. También animo a sus seguidores a que voten por mí como su segunda opción.
Es imperativo para el Distrito 9 y toda la ciudad que elijamos a alguien enfocado en obtener resultados, y no en la misma ideología tóxica y vacía que ha llevado tantas de nuestras crisis a un punto crítico.
Me enorgullece haber construido una coalición diversa de organizaciones latinas, asiáticas, ambientalistas y de derechos de las mujeres que apoyan mi campaña. Estoy comprometido a ser un constructor de puentes enfocado en obtener resultados reales para la Misión, Bernal y Portola.

- Residencia: Inquilino, nació en el Distrito 9 en 1967 y, salvo los tres años que estuvo en el ejército, ha residido aquí desde entonces
- Medio de transporte: Bicicleta
- Estudios: Ejército de EE.UU., City College de San Francisco, Universidad de California, Berkeley.
- Idiomas: Inglés y español
Mi segunda opción será un candidato como yo, con integridad, y que no esté comprometido con intereses externos. Me desanima el hecho de que hay candidatos en esta contienda que han calificado para recibir financiamiento público y no se molestan en imprimir su “basura de campaña” en una imprenta sindical de San Francisco. Esos candidatos y sus equipos están presionando a los votantes potenciales para que no ejerzan el voto por clasificación. No hay ninguna norma que haga cumplir estas deficiencias, pero la falta de integridad es lo que nos tiene en el desastre cívico en el que estamos. Julián Bermúdez es mi segunda opción.

Ha sido un honor pasar los últimos meses conociendo a mis compañeros candidatos y escuchando sus perspectivas en una amplia variedad de foros a lo largo del distrito. Algo está claro: estoy compitiendo con un grupo de personas que comparten mi pasión por hacer del Distrito 9 un mejor lugar para que todos podamos vivir y trabajar.
Animo a mis seguidores a que utilicen el poder del voto por clasificación seleccionando a candidatos adicionales que se alineen con nuestros valores y principios, y que tengan un historial en temas importantes como la seguridad pública, la vivienda y el servicio comunitario.
Jackie Fielder

Voy a clasificar a todos mis compañeros candidatos latinos, pero Stephen Torres será mi segunda opción. Estoy orgullosa de ser la candidata número 1 respaldada por organizaciones en las que los votantes del Distrito 9 confían, como la Liga de Votantes Molestos, el Sindicato de Inquilinos de SF y el Club Democrático Harvey Milk, y Stephen es su segunda opción. Al final del día, aunque espero que los votantes del Distrito 9 me pongan como su primera opción y a Stephen como la segunda, también espero que clasifiquen a nuestros líderes latinos que están en la contienda.

Uno de los aspectos más positivos del amplio espectro de candidatos en esta contienda es el enriquecedor diálogo que ha surgido a partir de los numerosos candidatos comunitarios que hemos representado. Esto ha facilitado la rendición de cuentas hacia la comunidad y ha permitido que se escuchen diversas perspectivas, en lugar de restringirse a un simple intercambio de puntos de vista. En respeto al espíritu de esa representación, he decidido no implementar una estrategia de clasificación formal en este momento y estaré tomando mi decisión en las próximas semanas, emitiendo mi voto clasificado junto a muchos de ustedes el 5 de noviembre.

Fear not, we won’t be missing the beloved green salsa at Jim’s Restaurant for some time — breakfast is here to stay. Mission Local has learned that the Mission Language and Vocational School will take over neighborhood mainstay Jim’s, which invited customers in today for its last day in business under current ownership. This afternoon, a line was seen reaching the corner of the building at 20th and Mission streets, and the diner had to take a waitlist for people to get in. Mission Language and Vocational School, a nonprofit that offers workforce development and small business supportive services, will staff the restaurant with graduates from its catering program and culinary school. S.F. police shoot, kill Dior guard turned alleged hit-and-run driver
San Francisco police shot and killed a purportedly armed man they say they tracked down — after he allegedly hit pedestrians and a cyclist with a car on Thursday evening. Assistant Chief David Lazar, who gave a press conference this morning, said the man was believed to be a security guard at Dior, and said he discovered a firearm “on the ground” at the scene that he believed belonged to the guard. He did not give any details about whether the man was armed at the time police shot him. Lazar also could not confirm how many police officers fired their weapons at the man. Supervisor Melgar won, now the trick will be to manage her constituents’ competing interests
District 7 incumbent Myrna Melgar faced a particularly bruising re-election campaign. She squared off against significant numbers of her own constituents by supporting hot-button issues like Proposition K to close the Great Highway to cars, and upzoning parts of her district that have been previously limited to single-family housing. “If I lose this election on this issue, then that’s the right thing to do,” Melgar said in June, after a particularly contentious meeting about zoning changes coming to her district, and the rest of the city.
