Are women still welcome on Twitter/X? I ask because the latest move by the social media platform’s owner Elon Musk would suggest otherwise.In all his wisdom, the amphibian-faced Silicon Valley bro is removing the ability to fully block other users. Which has all the hallmarks of a decision taken in an echo chamber with fewer X chromosomes than its name would suggest.The rolling-back of the tool will, in Musk’s words, mean the “block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public posts”. SFPD arrests suspect in July Mission homicide

A suspect in the July 24 homicide at the 16th Street BART Plaza was arrested on Sunday, the San Francisco Police Department reported today.Luis Rebolledo, a 37-year-old male who is suspected of killing a 20-year-old Black man at the 16th Street BART Plaza in broad-daylight at around 5:30 p.m. on July 24, was arrested at Shaddick Drive in Antioch, the department said.After the July 24 shooting, the victim was taken away by an ambulance with life-threatening injuries and died from gunshot wounds in the hospital. The shooting followed a fight with a crowd of about 20 young people at the BART Plaza, Mission Local reported in July.Rebolledo was transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked at 2:59 a.m. for homicide, carrying a concealed firearm, second degree robbery, and other charges. Couple Scrambles for Safety as Pit Bulls Swarm Around Them

Sara Cooke and Ryan Lesher scrambled for safety as a dozen pitbulls swarmed around them on their patio. The Indiana couple planned to hold their wedding on the same patio but now they say they are too scared. Court papers obtained by Inside Edition show the dogs' owner had been cited four times since June for having an animal at large. Kremlin suggests Europe is struggling to mobilise its arms industries for Ukraine

Gas leak shuts down 4 blocks in Mission, buildings evacuated

A gas leak near 24th and Hampshire streets in the Mission caused several buildings to be evacuated on Tuesday morning for about three hours, as emergency crews worked to find the source of the leak and shut it down. A four-block radius on Hampshire Street from 23rd to 25th streets and on 24th Street from Potrero Avenue to York Street was still shut down to vehicle traffic as of Tuesday afternoon, and emergency crews were on scene.Lt. Mariano Elias, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department, said the department got a 911 call from a construction worker at 9:15 a.m. about a broken gas pipe at the intersection. Nearly 100 still missing in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene

Murder trial for CashApp founder Bob Lee kicks off in San Francisco
