Pedestrian hit and killed at 16th Street near Valencia

A man was hit and killed early Sunday morning at the intersection of 16th Street and Rondel Place, an alleyway near Valencia Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Officers responded to “a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian” at approximately 2:43 a.m., the department stated. A preliminary investigation by the SFPD has determined that the man was already lying in the roadway before he was struck. While the driver remained at the scene, police said, paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A message to the medical examiner regarding the victim’s identity has not yet been returned. The collision brings the total number of traffic-related pedestrian deaths in San Francisco this year to 22, according to local nonprofit Walk San Francisco, compared to 18 in 2023. Mission Street celebrates National Taco Day with a taco tour

Many took a stroll through the Mission on Friday on a taco tour to celebrate National Taco Day. Pollo, carne asada, al pastor, shrimp and other less well-known options such as crispy potato and cochinita pibil were part of a menu that featured 10 local restaurants, each offering their own signature creation.Participants had the option of buying a $17 ticket that included five tacos from any of the participating establishments. Video of SFPD shooting shows armed suspect at Powell Street BART

The San Francisco Police Department held a town hall meeting Monday showing footage of three officers shooting at an armed suspect after a Sept. 13 chase that ended near the fare gates of the Powell Street BART Station.  Justin Matthew Alderman, 30, was armed and the gun can be seen throughout the video. Victim in life-threatening condition after Mission Street shooting 

At around 9:50 p.m. on Friday police officers responded to a shooting at the 1900 block of Mission Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department. When officers arrived at the scene on Mission Street between 15th and 16th streets, a victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Bill on street vending enforcement dies, and Mission vending ban

Nearly three months after Sen. Scott Wiener and Mayor London Breed announced the introduction of a California state bill that would have given police authority to ticket and even arrest people selling stolen goods, the legislation quietly died in the State Assembly.SB 925’s path in Sacramento was cut short on Aug. 15 when it was held under submission, a term used when members of a committee want further discussion. March for undocumented rights heads through Mission Street

At chants of “Kamala escucha estamos en la lucha” and “Si se puede” — “Kamala, listen we’re in this fight” and “Yes we can” — about 100 people marched on Mission Street this afternoon on their way to City Hall, demanding a path to legalization for millions of undocumented immigrants.   The group started its 48-mile march in San Jose on Saturday with only one goal in mind: To send a clear message to presumed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris during the party’s national convention in Chicago to renew H.R. 1511.
