Chyanne Chen leading in D11, where most provisional ballots have been counted

The San Francisco Department of Elections just released the results of another 6,106 ballots. The total of processed ballots is now 396,543 — 75.93 percent of the electorate.Perhaps 15,800 ballots remain. Of these, 14,400 are provisional ballots cast throughout the city and at City Hall on Election Day. Scrutinizing provisional ballots requires additional time, and not all may be accepted. Let’s dive right into the only two remaining contested races: District 11 supervisor, and the fourth and last open spot on the Board of Education:In District 11, Chyanne Chen is still leading with 11,931 votes to Michael Lai’s 11,727 — just a 204-vote difference. D3 leading candidate Sauter loses endorsement from tenants group

Danny Sauter, a leading candidate in District 3, lost the endorsement this week of the California Democratic Renters Council after it became clear that Sauter did not support Prop. 33. The Council is a statewide chartered organization of the California Democratic Party. If approved on Nov. 5, Prop 33 would repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act of 1995 and remove limits on cities and counties to impose rent control. The Renters Council supports the measure, and it is a critical issue in determining the group’s endorsement of candidates. When asked about his position on repealing Costa Hawkins in a questionnaire in July from the California Democratic Renters Council, Sauter said he supported repealing Costa Hawkins along with the production of new housing. Peskin leading in direct fundraising, Prop. M gets another boost

In the two weeks since Mission Local last published a campaign finance dispatch, a total of $2.7 million was put toward the San Francisco general election on Nov. 5, bringing the latest total to an eye-watering $45.6 million. Since then, the Ethics Commission has also published more detailed data on campaign committees’ finances: On Thursday, every campaign was required to file their totals for money raised and spent  from July 1 to Sept.  21. This included individual candidate committees, like those controlled directly by mayoral candidates and others, and third-party political action committees. The mayor’s race is, by far, the priciest contest: A total of $23 million has been fundraised among the candidates running, the bulk of it from the Levi Strauss heir and nonprofit founder Daniel Lurie.
