Fire at Mission Buddhist temple displaced four, including cats

The fire at a Mission Buddhist temple residence near 22nd and Capp streets on Tuesday left four residents displaced, of 15 residents living in the adjacent building, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.  The fire hit the residential Victorian adjoining the temple. No residents were injured, and one firefighter suffered minor injuries. Both cats living in the building were rescued, according to the nuns. The cats were not eating since the fire, one nun said. The firefighters rescued one cat, and the other hid under a bed on the third floor. The Victorian-style residential building, adjacent to the Buddhist temple Hua Zang Si, which opened in 2004, suffered “extensive damage,” according to the fire department. Fire strikes S.F. public housing known for squatters, mismanagement

A one-alarm fire broke out on Missouri Street in the Potrero Hill public housing complex on Monday evening, according to the San Francisco Fire Department, which posted video of firefighters on the roof of an apartment, flames shooting through the ceiling.Lt. Mariano Elias, a department spokesperson, said the building was empty and that there were no injuries. The call “came in shortly after 7 p.m.,” he said, and firefighters saw “fire blowing out the windows” at the three-story building. “Upon arrival, all three floors of the housing were on fire. Fire strikes two-unit building on Balmy Alley

A fire broke out in a two-unit building at 50 Balmy Alley on Saturday evening, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The building is located near Harrison, between 24th and 25th streets.There were no injuries, and no one was displaced, said the SFFD. The fire department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.A group of people working a taco stand in the alley on Sunday morning said they witnessed the fire, and saw a lot of smoke but no flames.
