Video: S.F. Target security guard took cash from man, Tased and beat him

After Mission Local reported on a Target security guard beating San Francisco resident Shan Bowerman with a baton last week, additional onlooker video reveals what precipitated that beating: The guard, holding a Taser to Bowerman’s chest, forcibly took his money while he protested loudly. The guard Tases Bowerman in the video, takes the money — a few hundred dollars of a welfare payment by Bowerman’s reckoning — then strikes him in the face with the Taser. No one was arrested in the incident, but Bowerman was treated in an ambulance. The new footage obtained by Mission Local today corroborates Bowerman’s claims last week that the security guard had intervened in a dispute he had with his girlfriend, forcibly took the money from him, Tased him and then handed the wad of bills to Bowerman’s purported girlfriend. The video could lead to assault charges against […]

Jury shown video of Nima Momeni’s stabbing motions

In a win for the prosecution, jurors today were shown a video in which alleged killer Nima Momeni made distinct stabbing motions, which prosecutors say match those that killed Cash App founder Bob Lee. The video was shown over objections from Momeni’s defense team. The jury was also shown images of the exact locations of Lee’s stab wounds, during testimony from Assistant Medical Examiner Ellen Moffatt. The video was recorded by San Francisco police Sgt. David Goff, who was tracking Momeni’s movements in the days after the stabbing in April 2023. When he captured Momeni on video, the defendant was talking to Brian Hedley, a private investigator who worked for Momeni’s former defense attorney, Paula Canny.  In the video, Hedley and Momeni are standing in the parking lot at Canny’s office and the video shows Momeni making three arm movements — two to […]

SFPD to share body-cam video of woman’s hot dog vending arrest

In response to public outcry over bystander video of police wrestling with a struggling female hot dog vendor, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said on Wednesday that he expects to release the involved officers’ body-worn camera footage. Scott said he saw no wrongdoing by the police after reviewing all the body-worn camera footage from the officers who were involved in a back-and-forth between the woman, who was selling hot dogs near Pier 33, and city workers who were attempting to confiscate her cart. “There is nothing that I saw in this video that officers or anybody else involved did anything other than what they were asked to do, in the way that they were asked to do it,” Scott said before the Police Commission on Wednesday. “I saw nothing that indicated misconduct.” Ana Luisa Casimer Julca, the 25-year-old pregnant woman who was […]
